PLAINFIELD–Police are trying to unravel a mystery after finding an overturned car empty Tuesday night.
Just before 11 p.m. Plainfield officers responded to reports of a one-car crash near 424 Snake Meadow Road in Moosup. A gray 2009 Infiniti was found overturned in the woods lying on its roof, and it had substantial damage.
Police determined it had been driving north on Snake Meadow Road when it went off the southbound side of the road, hitting a stone wall before overturning. It then slid about 200 feet before coming to a rest off the northbound side of the road.
No people were found with the car, and when police and firefighters, as well as K9s searched the area, they couldn’t find anyone.
The car is registered to two people, Lynn Navin and Lisa Marois, who live in Brooklyn, Connecticut, but police could not find the owners at home, or in any other address associated with them.
On Wednesday morning police made contact with one of the people involved in the crash, though it’s unknown how many were in the car. They would not say if this person was the driver or a passenger, but did say it wasn’t Navin or Marois. Police are now trying to find the second person.
