ROCKY HILL –  The two people who died after a fire erupted in a Rocky Hill home have been identified.

According to Assistant Fire Chief David Kromas, a call came in around 3:15 a.m. from a neighbor reporting that a house at 65 Walnut Road was on fire. Upon arrival, the rear of the house was fully involved.

The Rocky Hill Fire Department was able to knock down the fire in about a half-hour but when they searched the house, they found the two dead bodies of the home’s occupants on the second floor, in separate rooms.  Thomas Munger, 58 and Veronica Cossio-Munger, 49 both died due to smoke inhalation and the cause of the fire was ruled accidental.

The Rocky Hill Building Inspector condemned the building due to severe structural damage.
