PORTLAND -- Police said they are investigating a reported suicide involving a gun on the Arrigoni Bridge in Portland Wednesday night.
The Arrigoni Bridge was closed to all traffic during this investigation by Middletown police.
Police said the man's body was reported to have fallen from the bridge into the Connecticut River. The Middletown Police Dive Team, Middletown Fire Department, and the US Coast Guard tried to find him but said poor weather conditions hampered those efforts and the man wasn't found.
The search for the victim is expected to resume on Thursday morning.
The identity of the victim is being withheld by police at this time. The case remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad.
