HARTFORD -- A student is in custody after police investigated an incident at Prince Technical High School Thursday morning which forced officials to put the school on lockdown for an hour and a half.
State police confirmed the school was in lockdown after a student was reported to have a gun around 8:50 a.m. Police later said a student did not have a gun, and instead, a threat was posted on social media.
A family member of a student showed FOX 61's Maggie Slysz the threat they found online. It read "I got a gun in my bookbag and I'm deff gonna shot up the junior lunch way for what they did to me a couple of month back."
State police and K-9 units were on the scene sweeping the school as a precaution and police said students were safe.
There is no threat to the community, State Police Spokeswoman Kelly Grant said in an e-mail.
Troopers will continue to investigate the threat. The lockdown was lifted around 10:15 a.m. and students went back to class.
