WILLIMANTIC – Police said they arrested a Willimantic woman early Sunday evening after she crashed her car into two parked cars on Spring Street and then registered a Breath Alcohol Content better than four times that of the legal limit of .08.
Hers was .332 percent.
City police responded to a crash just after 5 p.m. when neighbors called 911 reporting the accident. The driver, Jacqueline Steinberg, 39, was stopped a short distance from the crash. She was uninjured and was placed under arrest after failing to successfully complete roadside standardized field sobriety tests.
She was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, evading responsibility and failure to drive right.
“A BAC this high is fairly uncommon and is one of the top 5 highest I have seen here in the past 19 years. It is irresponsible for anyone to get behind the wheel of a vehicle impaired, but this borders on egregious behavior, with a BAC this high.” said, Stanley Parizo, Jr. in a statement.
