BURLINGTON — Connecticut State Police said two troopers who wounded an armed suspect in Burlington after he refused orders to drop his weapon have been placed on administrative duty and the man they shot was arrested.
The incident began when Sgt. Jack Goncalves and Trooper Laurie Deltorto responded to Angela’s Way on Tuesday afternoon for reports that a man was threatening to harm himself.
State police said the troopers orderedMaciej Konferowicz, 49, to drop his gun after arriving on the scene. When Konferowicz allegedly aimed the gun in their direction, Goncalves and Deltorto each fired at least one round at him.
Police arrested him on Wednesday and charged him with interfering with an officer.
He posted his $50,000 bail and is due in court on Tuesday, January 17.
Goncalves is a 19-year state police veteran and Deltorto has been a trooper for 22 years.
