NEW HAVEN -- Letting kids be kids isn't always easy when they're staying at a hospital. But, Project Pinball aims to change that.

Project Pinball is a non-profit organization that places pinball machines in children's hospitals across the country to introduce therapeutic benefits to kids. 5 years ago, they gave their first pinball machine to a local hospital. Now, they travel the country restoring and donating the playful machines.

Thursday, they made their first stop at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. Laura Allen's son spent time there being treated for asthma. Now, the machine is setup in his honor.

"They’re sitting in front of a machine having fun and forget about the world around them," said Dan Spolar, Director of Project Pinball.

Child life specialist Christine Mace stresses how important that is for children. “They need things are new and different to get their minds off things."
