SALEM -- Chief James Savalle runs the Gardner Lake Fire Department, one of two volunteer departments in town.
Chief Savalle feels a new town-commissioned report on the future of public safety in Salem portrays his department in a poor light and suggests disregarding the report's recommendations.
The report was conducted by New Hampshire-based Municipal Resources Inc. a consulting firm for public safety departments.
Among the many findings listed -- the report claims there is a strong sense of competition and rivalry between Gardner Lake FD and the town's other department, Salem Volunteer Fire Department.
The report also says Gardner Lake FD responds to a disproportionate number of calls when compared to Salem Volunteer.
