BRIDGEPORT — Police are investigating a shooting that left several people injured at a club during a Sweet Sixteen party Saturday evening.
The shooting happened at 2500 Park Ave, known as Club Sportiva. The call came in around 10:39 p.m. regarding a disturbance. The incident escalated, resulting in a fight inside and then outside. Witnesses report that firearms were displayed.
Shots were fired near the steet and in the rear parking lot, Bridgeport Police say. A total of 5 victims, 4 of them male and one female, were struck from what police believe were at least two shooters.
Four of the victims were taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and one victim was taken to Bridgeport Hospital. All five victims sustained various gunshot wounds. One male victim is in serious condition, but is expected to survive. The other 4 victims sustained non life-threatening injuries.
Police say a party hall on the main floor of Club Sportiva was rented out to a non-club member to host the Sweet Sixteen Party. According to the host, many people showed up at the party who were not invited.
