New Haven – Four educators who died in the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting Dec. 14 were honored at a Southern Connecticut State University graduation Thursday night.
Sandy Hook Principal Dawn Hochsprung, school psychologist Mary Sherlach and first grade teacher Anne Marie Murphy all received degrees from Southern. First grade teacher Victoria Soto was in the process of getting her Master’s in special education at the school.
During the commencement, the Soto family accepted a post humous Master’s degree on behalf of Victoria and all four women received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the university. The Murphy family was also there to accept the award on their loved one’s behalf.
