SOUTH WINDSOR – The board of education and a teacher involved in a classroom controversy, have agreed to resolve their dispute with the educator resigning at the end of next school year.
“The board mutually agreed with the South Windsor Education Association and David Olio to resolve the recent dispute that has divided the community. Mr. Olio has resigned his employment with the South Windsor Public Schools, effective at the end of the 2015-2016 school year, and he will be on administrative leave until then while he seeks other opportunities, ” Dr. Kate Carter said in a statement.
On February 28, Carter had sent a message to all of the high school parents regarding inappropriate material that was “presented by a teacher to students in a senior English class.”
Carter said she did not want to further distract parents, students or staff. She said Olio had made many contributions to the school district and she wished him well in the future.
