NEW FAIRFIELD–A supervisor at one of Connecticut’s state parks has been arrested.
Christopher Keenan, the supervisor at Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield, was charged with larceny in the first degree, two counts of larceny in the second degree and three counts of forgery in the second degree.
The Department of Energy Environmental Protection’s Environmental Conservation Police Unit served the warrant to Keenan on Dec. 28 after an investigation into Keenan’s record keeping showed the misappropriation of state property and state-issued credit cards.
The specifics of the investigation revealed that Keenan allegedly took gasoline from state gas pumps at Squantz Pond to use in his personal vehicles, and that he used state credit cards to buy gas and car parts for personal use. The total value of the parts and stolen gas is estimated around $9,800.
Before his arrest, he was fired by DEEP on Dec. 23, but he is on administration leave through Jan. 6, 2015 due to state personnel regulations. At that point the termination will take effect. Keenan was hired as a supervisor by DEEP on Aug. 31, 2007.
Keenan was released on a promise to appear at his Jan. 8, 2015 court date in Danbury Superior Court.
