TRUMBULL — A Connecticut high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her local education board alleging it failed to protect her after she said she was raped by another student.
The Trumbull High School student says in the suit filed this week that the Trumbull Board of Education knowingly failed and refused to protect her from discrimination after the alleged rape.
The teen’s mother also met with the school’s principal, dean of students and a social worker and she alleges they said her child would be kept safe and her alleged assailant would be kept away.
The lawsuit further says the school failed to punish her alleged attacker and did not stop retaliation by the suspect and his friends.
Education Board Chairwoman Loretta Chory said she could not comment on pending litigation.
