Shaughn Adamski and Robert Piech tell FOX CT they were headed back to Naugatuck early morning Thursday after attending the Little Wayne and Drake concert in Hartford.

Adamski was driving the red 4-door Honda Civic that was hit from behind by a speeding driver on I-84 W between Exits 30 and 31, near the Bristol-Southington line, according to State Police.

'It doesn't even look like a car,  it looks like a crumpled up toaster," said Shaughn Adamski.

Adamski says he was traveling in the middle lane and saw headlights coming up from behind, and he told police the vehicle was going 100  mph before it colliding into the left rear corner of his car.

Poilice say after the collision the Civic spun off onto a grassy area before colliding into a tree.

The Adamski family saw the wrecked car for the first time after it was delivered to a local body shop later Thursday afternoon.

Shaughn's mother, Pam Adamaniski, was overcome with emotions upon seeing the car for the first time.

"I'm amazed they walked away from this, I'm more angry now than I was before," said Pam Adamaski.

Adamski told State Police he believed the hit-and-run vehicle was a small black  Dodge pick-up truck.

The vehicle's grill was recovered at the scene, and authorities have alerted area body shops.

"We could have been dead on the side of the road and someone got away with it.  It's not right," said Robert Piech.
