STORRS — The UConn Marching Band is getting ready to take the field for the first time this season on Thursday, and there is a new way to get a look at them.
The 400 member band, under the direction of Dr. David Mills and Mr. Marvin McNeill, traces its history back 120 years. This year, their summer practice was recorded by a drone in video shot by Devon Farquharson and posted on Facebook. The band is seen in the video playing on the shores of Mirror Lake and practicing their moves on the field. The final shot shows the band spelling out UConn while practicing in Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. The video has caught the attention of other college marching bands across the country.
UConn’s football team takes on the University of Maine Black Bears at 7 p.m. The game will be shown on WCCT.
