COLCHESTER — Lifestar was requested to the scene of a serious single-car crash that left a portion of Route 85 shut down Friday evening.
Connecticut State Police Troop K dispatched emergency crews just before 8:30 p.m. on reports that a vehicle struck a utility pole in the area of 174 New London Road in Colchester.
State police say a Nissan Versa driven by Thomas Cabral III of Torrington struck a tree in the area of 174 New London Road, rolled over on its roof and struck a telphone pole before landing back on 3 wheels. Emergency crews found Cabral unconscious, but he came to as volunteer firefighters began taking him out of car. He was taken by LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital, but police say his injuries are not life-threatening.
Police say the accident remains under investigation and charges are pending at this time.
