HAMDEN – A woman has been identified by police after her body was discovered with unusual injuries in a house fire Saturday.
Police responded to 28 Lilac Avenue in Hamden around 2 a.m. after learning flames had ignited on the property.
Crews established a safe route inside the home and conducted search efforts, eventually recovering a woman’s body.
Jennifer Antonier, 45, of the same address was pronounced dead at the scene, although investigators were quick to notice several disparities with her injuries.
Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s office told FOX 61 that Antonier’s injuries were largely inconsistent with those typically seen in fire-related fatalities.
Adding to suspicions, detectives later found a burned-out vehicle registered to the victim, located a significant distance away in New Haven.
The Medical Examiner was in charge of performing an autopsy. Hamden Police detectives and the State Fire Marshal are coordinating an investigation.
