Carol Giordano, 56, and Brandon Sapp, 27, are both facing multiple charges. Police expected to execute a search warrant on Giordano's residence when they saw a hand to hand heroin exchange between the men. Sapp, was in a car, and then took off when he saw police.
Police said Sapp hit a police car in his attempt to get away, then got out of his car and ran into the woods. Sapp even hit a K 9 that was sent after him.
Eventually, Sapp was caught and taken into custody. Nearly 400 bags of heroin were on him and $1,000 cash. Police also found that he had ditched a stolen handgun during the chase. He is looking at more than a dozen different charges, including, possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics, criminal possession of a pistol, theft of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. Sapp was issued a $500,000 bond and is expected at Waterbury Superior Court for arraignment on Wednesday, Aug. 6th.
As for Giordano, he was arrested while still holding heroin. He was found in possession of 10 bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was held on $6,000 bond and is expected at Waterbury Superior Court for an arraignment on Wednesday, Aug. 6th.
Police said this was a significant amount of heroin they were able to get off the street. Heroin is considered to be the most lethal drug right now in the Watertown, Waterbury area, with countless overdoses reported.
