BETHANY — A fire in a home Saturday has been ruled an arson and police are searching for suspects in the case.

Crews were called to a fire in a vacant house at 229 Bear Hill Rd. on Saturday around 4 p.m. They found heavy fire coming from the roof and front door.

After the fire was under control,  the Bethany Fire Marshal’s Office with help from the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit determined the fire was set.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered.

Officials believe the house had been vacant for several years.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Bethany Fire Marshal’s Office at 203-393-2100 ext. 119 or call the Arson Hot Line directly at 1-800-842-7766.
