WESTBROOK, Conn. — Story by Matthew Izzo
Every Wednesday morning, students from the Life Skills Program at Westbrook High School deliver hot, fresh coffee to teachers and staff.
Emerson, a junior in the life skills program, operates the cart and is a fixture to the Wednesday morning deliveries.
The coffee is provided by a local favorite in Westbrook, Julie’s Cup of Joe. They support the program as well as other area high school life skills programs.
Ms. Lesandrine, Life Skills teacher and advisor for the program, mentors students with disabilities on how to become more independent using real world skills that can be utilized outside of school.
The program offers an opportunity for students with a learning curve.
