MILFORD, Conn. — Story by Elizabeth Tran, Nathan Galicinao, Jocelyn Gonzalez Foran High School
The Black Business Alliance (BBA) located in the Connecticut Post Mall offers services to Black-owned businesses including events for owners to network.
At Cupcakes and Cocktails, a networking event for Black woman entrepreneurs, Anne Marie, Director at the Black Business Alliance, said, “So we’ve come together this evening just to celebrate each other, to network with teachers, and to build trust but ultimately its to empower and help black owned businesses around the state.”
BBA has also hosted an event on February 4th called the Noire Expose where they brought 52 technological startup companies around the state to compete in a pitch competition.
Marie said, “The top prize, a technological company, was actually $35,000, the second prize was $25,000, and the third prize was $15,000.”
By hosting networking events and handing cash prizes to companies seeking funding, Black businesses in Connecticut are able to grow with the empowerment from BBA.
