KILLINGLY, Conn — Story by Molly Crabtree & Julia Young, Killingly High School

First founded by the Worcester family of Maine in 1992, Wreaths Across America strives to make sure no veteran is forgotten.

In 2007, the Wreaths across America non-profit was created and today more than 2 million volunteers and supporters gather at more than 4,000 locations in nearly all 50 states to honor the lives of veterans.

"Remember, Honor, and Teach" are the three words that signify Wreaths Across America. Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom.

Wreaths Across America was brought to the "quiet corner" of Connecticut on Saturday, December 16th, at the Holy Cross Cemetery, in Danielson.

Volunteers and supporters gathered for a ceremony and wreath placing under the leadership of Patti George and Jennifer Hegedus. Volunteers of all ages placed wreaths to ensure all veterans were honored.

The live balsam veteran' wreaths are far more than just a decoration on the headstones of our nation's heroes, but rather an opportunity to keep their memories alive and a symbol of honor for every veteran that sacrificed their lives.
