Police in several towns investigate burglaries that may be connected

These incidents in Berlin, Bloomfield, East Granby, Farmington, and Windsor are believed to follow a timeline.

HARTFORD, Conn — Police in several central Connecticut communities are investigating a series of burglaries they believe are connected.

Connecticut State Police said at 1:18 a.m. Wednesday, a trooper attempted to stop a white Subaru bearing a misused registration plate on I-91 in the Wethersfield area.

The driver failed to stop and was not pursued. The trooper saw the car leave the highway in Wethersfield and notified Wethersfield Police.

In Berlin, police said a smash-and-grab burglary was attempted at Sam's Food on the Berlin Turnpike at 1:30 a.m.

A little more than 30 minutes later, there was an attempted smash-and-grab at a gas station in Farmington. Then an hour later, Bloom's Liquor in Windsor was burglarized in Windsor. It was followed about 30 minutes later by another burglary at Waypoint Spirits in Bloomfield.

At 4:05 a.m., State Police were contacted by the owner of The Liquor Cabinet, located on Rainbow Road, in East Granby, reporting a burglary from the store.

Troopers and East Granby Officers responded to investigate. The complainant reported that items had apparently been taken from the store and described a white Subaru as a possible suspect vehicle.

Minutes later, Troopers and East Granby Officers were called to Sam’s Food Citgo on School Street in East Granby for a commercial burglary alarm.

No suspects were found and police found the business's front door had been damaged. It did not appear that the interior of the business had been entered into. A white Subaru was also described as a possible suspect vehicle.

State police said they are investigating the incidents in East Granby and initial contact with the Subaru in Wethersfield. Currently, they are not investigating the Berlin, Bloomfield, Farmington, and Windsor incidents.
