HARTFORD, Conn — Police have announced the road closures in Hartford that will be in effect Tuesday for the funeral of the late Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
A section of Farmington Avenue will be closed from Broad Street to Sigourney Street, mostly in front of the Aetna Insurance complex.
Rell will lie in state at the Capitol, starting at 10:00 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Traffic in the area surrounding the cathedral will be impacted between around 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. due to the large anticipated attendance. The Hartford Police Department encourages attendees to carpool and commute responsibly.
Rell died last Tuesday after a short illness according to her family. After being elected at lieutenant governor in 1994, served as Governor from 2004 to 2011. She came to office following the resignation of John Rowland. In 2006, she was elected in her own right by a large margin.
