Route 5 in East Windsor evacuated after crash involving propane tanker

Officials are asking people to avoid the area until further notice.

EAST WINDSOR, Conn. — Part of Route 5 in East Windsor is closed after a propane tanker crashed Tuesday morning, officials said.

The road is closed in both directions between Abbe Road and Stoughton Road, and the area around the crash has also been evacuated, officials said. 

Officials are asking people to avoid the area until further notice. Police said emergency crews are at the scene, however, it's unknown at this time if there are any injuries.

Tuesday's winter storm has caused closures, delays, parking bans, and dangerous driving conditions across the state.

A crash happened on the northbound side of Interstate 95 in Exit 92. The tractor-trailer rolled over, and one person was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries.

Another crash involved a vehicle flipped over on Route 15 in Meriden between exits 67S and 66, closing the right lane, according to CT DOT.

Multiple crashes were also reported on Route 15 and Interstate 91 in North Haven. A tractor-trailer was seen partially hanging off an overpass in the town, closing that part of I-91.
