NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A person who jumped out of the window from a blaze inside an illegal attic apartment in New Britain has died.
The man was taken to the hospital on Monday for burns and was in critical condition. The identity of the person is not yet known.
According to the mayor's office, a body was also found inside of the home.
The fire broke out at around 12:24 p.m. in the attic of a two-family home on Belden Street. Heavy fire was reported from the building’s top floor.
City officials said the fire occurred in what appeared to be an illegal attic apartment.
