MONTVILLE, Conn. — State Police say a head-on collision claimed the life of a Montville man on Saturday morning.
First responders were called to Route 82 in the area of Green Valley Drive around 8:23 a.m. Saturday.
Police say their preliminary investigation shows that a Chevy Equinox driven by 68-year-old Wayne Edgley, from the Oakdale section of Montville, was traveling east on Route 82 when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was in the westbound lane. Edgley was pronounced dead on the scene.
Two people in the pickup truck were transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich with apparent minor injuries.
Police are not certain why Edgley's vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic. The crash remains under investigation; anyone with any information is urged to contact the Montville Police Department or Connecticut State Police Troop E.
