Southbury operating under State of Emergency due to severe flooding

Public safety officials are assessing the damage.

SOUTHBURY, Conn. — The Town of Southbury is operating under a State of Emergency as public safety officials assess widespread damage. Approximately 800 power outages have been reported, and 15 roadways are completely closed due to flooding, with numerous partial closures across town.

The Pomperaug River is 3.5 feet above flood stage, and officials continue to monitor approaching weather systems. Residents are strongly urged to stay home and avoid the roads.

Closed roadways include Old Waterbury, Old Field Road, New Road, West Flat, Stillson Road, and several others. Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
