VERNON, Connecticut — A Columbia woman has been charged by state police with having sexual intercourse with a child and risk of injury.
On Tuesday, Alyson Cranick, 42, of Columbia, turned herself in Tuesday and was charged with two counts of sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a child. She was held on a $500,000 bond. Cranick was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
According to the town's 2017-2018 annual report, Cranick worked for the school system in Columbia, having been listed as a paraprofessional.
Police said in a warrant that they started investigating in September after a report of a sexual assault in the first degree of a juvenile male. Investigators believe the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim multiple times during July and August 2022 in the town of Columbia.
