MANSFIELD, Conn. — An armed robbery occurred early Saturday afternoon at the Citgo at 9 Stafford Road in Mansfield, according to a release from Connecticut State Police.
Troopers from Troop C in nearby Tolland were dispatched to the gas station around 12:05 p.m. after being alerted of the armed robbery.
State Police reported the suspect reportedly displayed a long-barreled revolver, demanded all of the cash from the clerk and left on foot with approximately $700 in cash taken from the business.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’ 8" tall with a slender build. They believe he is between 20 and 30 years old.
Surveillance photos released by State Police show the suspect was wearing a royal blue sweatshirt with a Champion logo, black sweatpants, gloves and surgical mask over his face. He was reportedly last seen traveling south on Route 32 in the vicinity of Pleasant Valley Road.
Troopers used a K9 officer to search the area around Pleasant Valley Road, but were unsuccessful. A witness did describe a grey colored Ford pickup, potentially a four-door F-150, with a loud exhaust speed off from the area in an unknown direction.
Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Unit are assuming the investigation. Anyone with information relevant to the armed robbery can contact Det. Christopher Sackett at 860-896-3272 or email him at Christopher.Sackett@ct.gov. All information can remain confidential, State Police said.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
