ELLINGTON, Conn. — An Ellington man has been charged in connection with the death of a man from a drug overdose in September.
Charles Lewis, 24, was charged with manslaughter and and sale of narcotics in connection with the death of an unidentified Ellington man. Police said he had texted and called the victim before selling the narcotics.
The man was later found dead in a home with drug paraphernalia nearby. The victim had recently been treated in a detox facility.
Police said the victim and the suspect had texted during the afternoon about purchasing drugs. The victim also electronically transferred money to Lewis. Lewis allegedly warned the victim the drugs were potent, texting, "Yeah plz don't do a bunch off rip."
When police searched Lewis's home, the found similar drug wrapping as was found in the victim's home.
Lewis was taken into custody Monday at the East Hartford Police Department and transferred to State Police custody.
