TOLLAND, Conn. — An East Hartford man was arrested for allegedly inciting a street takeover that happened in Tolland last spring.
Jaki Haynes, 21, turned himself in to Connecticut State Police Troop H on Thursday for charges connected to his alleged involvement in a Tolland street takeover on May 21, 2023.
Haynes is believed to be the president of a "car club" that promoted and allegedly hosted multiple street takeovers that month, state police said. People's vehicles were damaged during the street takeover in Tolland.
Investigators found Haynes' Instagram account and read text messages related to ordering shirts and sharing flyers to promote the "car club," according to the arrest warrant. Conversations coordinating the takeovers were also found, the arrest warrant states.
Haynes was charged with inciting a riot, conspiracy and accessory to commit a riot. He was released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
Numerous street takeovers were reported all over Connecticut last summer, including in Manchester, Meriden and on the Boston Post Road from West Haven to Milford.
