TOLLAND, Conn — A man faces several charges after allegedly leading state troopers on a pursuit that ended with the ramming of a police cruiser.
On Friday, around 11:12 p.m. a trooper from Troop C attempted to pull over a blue Subaru Impreza on River Road (Route 32) in Willington after spotting the car speeding and swerving dangerously.
The Subaru initially stopped but then sped away at a high speed. Other troopers in the area later saw the Subaru traveling westbound on Tolland Stage Road (Route 74) in Tolland.
Once again, they tried to stop the car. The driver of the Subaru, later identified as Jacob P. Klotzer, crashed his car into an occupied State Police K9 cruiser before coming to a stop near Evergreen Drive in the Tolland. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Following his arrest, Klotzer was taken to Troop C without further incident. He now faces several charges including but not limited to violation of Interfering with an Officer, Criminal Attempt of Assault on a Public Safety Officer, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs and/or Alcohol, Reckless Driving, Engaging Police in Pursuit, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Misuse of Plates, Failure to Maintain Lane, Following Too Closely, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Signal, and Failure to Display Plates.
Klotzer is being held on a $250,000.00 cash bond and is slated to appear at GA-19 Rockville Superior Court on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. for his arraignment.
