WILLINGTON, Conn — A woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in Willington Wednesday, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said the crash happened in the area of exit 71 on the highway at 3:15 p.m.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling in the right lane of I-84 when it attempted to change to the center lane, state police.
A UPS-owned truck was traveling in the right lane when the Hyundai collided into the truck's driver side rear bumper, according to state police. The Hyundai then spun out into the center lane before coming to a stop.
The only passenger of the Hyundai, identified as Gennesse Alicea, 39, of Southbury, Mass., died from her injuries in the crash, state police said.
The Hyundai driver had possible injuries and the truck driver was uninjured.
State police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Honeywell #529 at the Troop C Barracks.
