Veterans Day events in Connecticut happening Monday

Veterans Day events will be happening across the state on Monday.

CONNECTICUT, USA — On Veterans Day this Monday, towns and cities across Connecticut are paying tribute to all veterans and members of the military.

Here is a list of events taking place Monday in Connecticut:

  • 9 a.m.

    • Willimantic: Eastern Connecticut State University is hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony with VA Commissioner Ronald Welch in the Student Center Lobby.

  • 10:30 a.m.

    • East Hartford: A wreath-laying ceremony will be held on the front lawn of the Raymond Library with parking available behind the library via Central Avenue.

  • 10:45 a.m.

    • West Haven: A Veterans Day tribute will be held at the Veterans Walk of Honor at Bradley Point Park, Captain Thomas Boulevard on the West Haven shoreline. The event will feature remarks by Mayor Dorinda Borer and Veterans Council President Dave Ricci.

  • 11 a.m.

    • Glastonbury: A ceremony by the Veterans Service Commission will be held starting at the Hubbard Green on 18 Hubbard St. 

      • It will be followed by a dedication of the new Heroes Monument at the former field No. 4, renamed to Heroes Field, at the Glastonbury Riverfront Park on 252 Welles Street at 12 p.m. The ceremony will conclude with a light luncheon at Giovanni's Brick Oven Pizzeria.

    • Hamden: A ceremony will be held in the Legislative Council Chambers at Memorial Town Hall, located at 2372 Whitney Ave. with parking available at 2900 Dixwell Ave.

    • Mashantucket: An annual Veterans Day parade will be held at the Foxwoods Resort Casino at 39 Norwich-Westerly Road, with the parade route starting at the Rainmaker Expo Center and concluding at the celebration zone. A ceremony will immediately follow the parade.

    • Meriden: A ceremony will be held on on Broad Street between the Stop & Shop and the Tide Cleaners.

    • New Britain: A ceremony will be held at Central Park.

    • Southington: An annual veterans ceremony will be held at the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, located across from the town green at 64 Main St.

    • West Hartford: A ceremony will be held at the Connecticut Veterans Memorial on the corner of Farmington Avenue and North Main Street. The rain location is at the Town Hall Auditorium. 

    • Westport: The town of Westport and VFW Post 399 will be hosting Veterans Day services in the Town Hall auditorium at 110 Myrtle Avenue. 

      • The Westport Community Band will be presenting a "Patriotic Salute to All Veterans," including marches and patriotic tunes, at 10:30 a.m.

  • 1 p.m.

    • New Haven: The University of New Haven will host its 23rd annual Veterans Day Observance at its main campus at the Alumni Lounge at the Bartels Campus Center.

  • 2 p.m.

    • Middletown: A Veterans Day gathering will be held at the State Veterans Cemetery at 317 Bow Lane. Middletown Veterans Organizations will be joined by Commissioner Ron Welch of Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, Gov. Ned Lamont, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Middletown Mayor Ben Florsheim.
