Wanda Geter fired from city job following year-long investigation into Bridgeport ballot fraud incident

In a statement the city said they found, “certain City policies were violated and that separation from the City was appropriate discipline.”

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — By now you have probably heard about ballot fraud in Bridgeport. With another big national and state election just days away, the city has fired a familiar name. Wanda Geter-Patacky has been terminated as a city employee following a more than year long investigation.

In a statement the city said they found, “certain City policies were violated and that separation from the City was appropriate discipline.”

Former Bridgeport mayoral candidate John Gomes said, “It’s long overdue. This has been plain in the evidence we saw with our eyes and it was done within the walls of city hall.”

Gomes, who successfully used the now infamous video of Wanda allegedly stuffing an absentee ballot box to get a judge to overturn the 2023 election results, says he hopes Wanda’s firing is just the first domino to fall. “We need to continue and not give up hope and we need to fight through not only the SEEC but the FBI and any legislative, executive or judicial body that can help us get rid of corruption here in the city of Bridgeport.”

Wanda’s firing comes more than a year after the city hired a New Haven based law firm to conduct an independent investigation. “I can tell you that I know the town chair Mario Testa and the Mayor don’t approve of that at all. Because it doesn’t help them when something like that happens,” said Nancy DiNardo, the Chair of the Connecticut Democratic Party.

But then why does Wanda remain the Vice-Chair of the Bridgeport Democratic party? “I think partly because she got elected to it,” said DiNardo. “They weren’t going to take her out before that. She would technically have to resign because she’s elected so I would think she would have to resign but other than that all they could do was censure her so I don’t think that would have benefitted anybody.”

In addition to getting fired, Wanda was arrested in June on election fraud charges related to Bridgeport’s 2019 mayoral election.

FOX61 has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the city to obtain the full investigative report.

Wanda Geter has still not been charged in connection to the 2023 mayoral race.
