Wethersfield shoppers get passport for discounts

Patrons spend $5 at participating retailers and restaurants in exchange for a stamp on their passport.

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — The Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association is making every effort they can to help local businesses around town.

Melissa Stelzer opened her store’s doors in November of this year, right in the middle of the pandemic. “During the pandemic I had our online store and it took off. We were planning a couple years down the road to open a store but we just had to. We were growing so fast, it was in every room of my house” said Melissa.

Since their Annual Holidays on Main event had to be canceled due to the pandemic, the Shopkeepers Association created the Holiday Passport Program, where patrons can spend $5 at different businesses along Main Street and fill up their passport card in exchange for discounts and rewards around town.

Stelzer says about 50 percent of the clients that came into the store were participating in the Passport Program.

The Passport Program runs through December 23rd. For more information you can visit the Wethersfield Shopkeeper Association’s Facebook Page.
