Fire destroys home in Chaplin

At least one person is unaccounted for, firefighters said.

CHAPLIN, Conn. — An early morning fire destroyed a single-family home in Chaplin on Tuesday morning as firefighters’ response was hampered by the winter storm. At least one person was unaccounted for.

Firefighters responded to a home on Willimantic Road in Chaplin around 5 a.m. and the snow conditions made it difficult for the first responders. They said the snow-covered roads and trees made their response much more difficult.
