WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Funeral arrangements for Joyce Grayson, the visiting nurse killed over the weekend in Willimantic, have been made public.
According to her obituary, calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Federated Church of Christ, 15 Hartford Road, Brooklyn. Immediately followed by a reception at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds, 5 Fairgrounds Road, Brooklyn. Burial will be private.
On Wednesday, Merlyn Dunbar, a visiting nurse, said of her friend and colleague. “She was a very beautiful soul, loving, kind."
Grayson was found dead Saturday at a halfway house for sex offenders in Willimantic. She had an appointment to see a patient at the address and then missed several appointments scheduled for later in the day. Michael Reese, who was released from prison early after nearly stabbing someone to death, was taken into custody. Police said he had Grayson’s keys on his person and they found evidence he tampered with a court-monitored GPS device. He has not yet been charged with Grayson's death.
