EASTFORD, Conn. — A boy and a girl are accused of setting multiple fires in area churches and buildings last April, including a fire that destroyed the Eastford Congregational Church.
State police announced the arrests Friday, though they were made in September 2023.
On April 23, 2023, state police were called to 8 Church Road in Eastford for a fire at the Eastford Congregational Church.
Investigators determined that the fire was linked to other fires in South Windsor, a fire and burglary at Camp Nahaco in Woodstock, a church in Ashford, and several other church break-ins.
A young male was arrested on Sept. 8, 2023, in connection to the fires and was charged with arson, burglary criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
A young girl was arrested on Sept. 27, 2023, and was charged with arson, burglary, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment.
Both were also arrested in connection to the South Windsor fire and a summons for the Camp Nahaco burglary, which happened days before the fire at the camp.
