Wrong-way driver clips state police cruiser's side mirror, keeps driving: Troopers

The Nissan was stopped on Mile Hill Road a while later and the driver was then arrested.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — A wrong-way driver whose car clipped a police cruiser's side mirror and kept going on Interstate 84 West in Newtown has been arrested.

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Connecticut State Police got a report of a vehicle going the wrong way on I-84 West near Exit 8 in Danbury.

A state police cruiser was traveling in the left lane on I-84 West near Exit 10 when a Nissan Rogue was driving the wrong way in the same lane. The Nissan hit the driver's side mirror of the cruiser and kept going, state police said.

The Nissan was seen stopped on Mile Hill Road a while later and the driver, identified as 26-year-old Ney Carrasco-Guerrero of Danbury, was arrested.

Carrasco-Guerrero was charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility, operating under the influence, driving the wrong way, interfering with an officer and reckless endangerment. Bond was set to $50,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
