HARTFORD, Conn. — Two Powerball tickets sold in Connecticut won big in Monday's drawing. One ticket won $50,000 and the other won a whopping $250,000.
The numbers to match are 8-9-11-27-31 and the Powerball 17. Power Play quintupled prize winnings.
Two tickets matched four numbers and the Powerball. One of them played with Power Play, multiplying the prize by five to win $250,000, while the other player did not opt for Power Play and still won $50,000.
There were 13 players who matched four numbers and won between $100-$500.
A total of 5,342 winning Powerball tickets were sold in Connecticut for Monday's drawing.
No one in the nation won the $163 million jackpot, but there are a few new millionaires. Tickets in Arkansas and Virginia matched five numbers to win $1 million, and a ticket in Texas matched five and opted for Power Play, winning $2 million; the X5 Power Play does not apply to Match 5 winnings.
The next drawing is on Wednesday, Sept. 18 and the jackpot rises to an estimated $176 million.
