WASHINGTON — Chipotle customers can put their knowledge to the test for a chance at winning free food for a year.

For the fifth year, the company has brought back its Chipotle IQ trivia game to test fans' knowledge of the chain's ingredients, culinary techniques, brand history and more.

From Tuesday, Aug. 20 through Thursday, Aug. 22 at 11:59pm ET, there will be buy-one-get-one-free offer codes up for grabs for the first 5,000 people every hour who get a perfect 10 out of 10 on the online trivia game.

Getting a perfect score also unlocks an extra question, which if answered correctly earns fans an entry in a drawing for 50 free burritos for a year prizes. In total, the company is giving away more than $1 million in BOGO offers and free burritos.

You can only play the trivia game once per day and have to be a Chipotle Rewards member, according to the company

As part of the announcement, Chipotle's Chief Brand Officer gave a hint for one question - sharing that the company uses 48 avocados in every batch of its hand-mashed guacamole.

If you don't get a perfect score, you may not leave empty-handed. New for 2024, those who get at least a 7 out of 10 could get 25 rewards points in their Chipotle Rewards account, but there's only 400,000 of those bonuses available each day.

The return of Chipotle IQ comes just a few days after it was announced the company's CEO would be abruptly leaving to become Starbucks' CEO and chairman. Revenue at Chipotle has nearly doubled since Brian Niccol's arrival in 2018.
