HARTFORD, Conn. — The 2024 General Election is fast approaching and with major positions up for grabs now is a good time to make sure you are registered to vote this cycle.
Checking your voter registration in Connecticut is simple if you have a smartphone or computer. All you need to do is visit the Secretary of the State's portal by clicking here.
Fill out the form with your Town of residence, your name, and your date of birth and click the button labeled "Voter Registration Search."
If all the information is correct and you are registered to vote, your information should populate below. If it does not find a record, check to be certain that everything you included was correct and run the search again.
If you cannot find your record, you may not be registered. While you can still fill out the online voter registration application, forms submitted after Oct. 19 will not be processed until after the election in November.
That doesn't mean, however, that you will be unable to vote on Nov. 5 or during the state's new Early Voting period. Connecticut allows for Same Day Registration for voters who are eligible to vote but are not registered at the time of an election.
Same Day Registration must be completed either on Election Day during poll hours or during Early Voting hours. It also must be completed at designated Same Day Registration sites, rather than at your usual polling location. You will need to provide proof of identity and proof of residency.
To find your town's Same Day Registration location, you can reach out to your Registrar of Voters.
