HAMDEN, Conn. — Women are a key factor in helping Democratic incumbents Gov. Ned Lamont and Sen. Richard Blumenthal lead their races by 17 points against their GOP opponents in a poll released by Quinnipiac University on Wednesday.
Lamont leads challenger Bob Stefanowski by 57 - 40%, while Blumenthal leads his opponent Leora Levy by 57 - 40% as well, according to the poll.
A total of 1,911 likely Connecticut voters were surveyed from September 15 - 19 with a margin of error of +/- 2.2 percentage points.
Women support Lamont 63 - 35%. Men are divided, with 50% supporting Lamont and 47% supporting Stefanowski.
Likely voters give Lamont a positive 54 - 36% favorability rating.
In the Senate race, 64% of women said they support Blumenthal over 33% for Levy. Men are evenly split, with 48% supporting Blumenthal and 48% supporting Levy.
Likely voters give Blumenthal a positive 51 - 39% favorability rating.
