'It's been very difficult': Pawel Gumienny's lawyer speaks on client's testimony in Michelle Troconis trial

Cross-examination from the defense pried into the details of Gumienny’s whereabouts in the days before and after Jennifer Dulos’ disappearance.

STAMFORD, Conn. — Pawel Gumienny returned to the stand Wednesday as the criminal trial of Michelle Troconis continues into day No. 19. His lawyer also spoke about the case outside of court.

Gumienny is the former employee of Fotis Dulos, who is accused of the murder of his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos. Michelle Troconis is Fotis’ one-time girlfriend who is facing charges connected to Jennifer’s disappearance.

Cross-examination from the defense pried into minute-by-minute details of Gumienny’s whereabouts in the days before and after Jennifer’s disappearance, as well as his conversations with police, Fotis and Troconis.

“Of course, it’s hard to remember from five years ago,” Gumienny's lawyer, Lindy Urso, said outside of court Wednesday regarding his client's testimony.

Urso spoke to the media outside of court during a break, saying that his client just wants to get out of the spotlight and "get back to his life."

"The whole thing’s been very difficult the last five years," Urso said. "I think the last two days, again, are sort of mixed because he hates the spotlight, he’s a very private individual. But by the same token, we’re here now and this is the beginning of the end of the circus for him."

Urso commented on how his client may have been "too cooperative" with police during their search efforts for Jennifer.

"Early on, he was talking to the police against my advice,” Urso said. "He went in there and talked to the police before he hired me, before we had the immunity agreement."

Concerning Gumienny's immunity deal, it started as a verbal agreement between Urso and the state's attorney in 2019 and was put in writing in December 2023. It promised that Gumienny would not be charged with hindering prosecution if he cooperated with investigators.

"The immunity deal was originally not an ironclad, it was just sort of a conversation between myself and the state’s attorney," Urso said.

To Urso's understanding, "I don't think he's ever been a suspect."

When FOX61 asked Urso what people should know about his client, he answered, "He’s a very hard-working family man and he just wants to get this [expletive] show behind him.”
