BRISTOL – The boys of summer are coming to Bristol. Monday, March 9, Mayor Ken Cockayne announced the Bristol Blues summer collegiate baseball organization.

“Bristol is a great city with a rich and enduring history of sports; we are excited to share with our residents and visitors the opportunity to see some of the best collegiate baseball being played in the country,” the mayor said.

The team will have 14 Connecticut natives on its roster, and in all nine states will be represented by team members.

The Blues are are slated to play 28 home games at Muzzy Field. The city of Bristol will be sponsoring the fireworks show at the team’s opening home game on June 5. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Also, The Blues are planning to add fireworks to several home games throughout the season.

The Torrington Titans also play in the league.

The league, FCBL, has six franchises in Massachusetts, two in New Hampshire, and two in Connecticut.
