HARTFORD — Hartford's new professional soccer team is holding open tryouts as it fills out the roster for its inaugural season.
The team will play in the USL, a tier below Major League Soccer. It recently announced the signings of its first seven players.
All have played in the USL or in other professional leagues.
Coach Jimmy Nielsen says he's been impressed with the talent he's seen in the region and believes several local players could have a legitimate chance of making the roster.
The first step is to impress the coach enough to get an invitation to preseason training.
The tryouts will be held Jan. 19 at the Oakwood Soccer Club in Glastonbury and on Jan. 25 at Sportsworld in East Windsor.
