Hartford Wolf Pack fans excited for season ahead at home opener

With the team off to a hot start already, fans said there is plenty to look forward to this season.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Hours before the puck drop, some of the biggest Hartford Wolf Pack fans lined up on Friday night to be the first ones inside for the home opener.

"I’m a huge Wolf Pack fan, I’ve been here since 1997 and been a season ticket holder since then," said Kevin Johnson of Bloomfield.

Many of them are diehard fans.

"I am getting the wolf pack logo tattooed right here on Monday," said Janet Hull of Winsted.

Many are still buzzing from last season.

"They had a fantastic season last year. From March on, being able to actually win all of those wins to get into the playoffs and then shutting out in the series both Providence and Springfield, it was a great win for all of us," said Rich Murphy of East Hampton.

With the team off to a hot start already, Wolf Pack fans said there is plenty to be excited about for this season.

"Honestly, it’s pretty much a clean slate. And this is the most excited I’ve been for a home opener in a while," Johnson said.

"I’m really excited to see the team and see what they can bring this year," said Jeanette Dubicki, of Danbury.

Inside the XL Center before the game that excitement and energy could be felt in the crowd of red, white and blue.

People showed their team spirit with face paint and shopping for team merch. Many are gearing up for a tradition they look forward to all year.

"The camaraderie. We’ve all actually become friends. We’re always first in line. And it’s just the friendship, the team itself, it’s very homey," Hull said.

"Wins, wins, and more wins and hopefully a championship," said Rich Parsons of Barkhamsted.
