STORRS, Conn. — The UConn women’s basketball team continues its upward movement in the Associated Press Top 25 poll amid its 12-game win streak.
The Huskies, who routed Seton Hall and DePaul last week, climbed to No. 8 in Monday’s poll. It is their highest ranking since week three when they ranked at No. 6.
The team has appeared in the poll for 576 consecutive weeks.
South Carolina remained the unanimous choice at No. 1 in the poll, receiving all 35 votes from a national media panel. The Gamecocks cruised to easy wins over Kentucky and Texas A&M. Coach Dawn Staley's team has a showdown at No. 9 LSU on Thursday night.
There was some shifting in the top 10 this week, with UCLA moving back up to No. 2 after beating Colorado on the road.
The Buffalos remained at No. 3 while Kansas State jumped three spots to No. 4. Iowa dropped to fifth after falling in overtime to Ohio State.
No. 6 Stanford jumped 2 spots, while No. 7 North Carolina State dropped down three. LSU and Texas completed the top 10.
The Huskies have two top-25 matchups this week. First, they will travel to Tuesday and then host a long-standing rivalry game against No. 15 Notre Dame on Saturday.
